Biography
Matthew W. ("Matt") Kilgo is the managing attorney and owner of The Law Offices of Matthew Kilgo, LLC. Now in his 25th year of practice, Matt is an experienced trial attorney whose practice focuses on firearms litigation, including criminal cases, weapons-carry related matters, and regulatory firearms issues at the state and federal levels. Matt has worked as a Georgia prosecutor, first with the Cherokee County Solicitor’s Office, then as an assistant solicitor in the City of Atlanta and in Cobb County, Georgia. He then served as a felony trial prosecutor in the Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney’s Office and, later as regional counsel for the Recording Industry Association of America’s criminal anti-piracy program in the southeast. Matt is a member of the State Bar of Georgia; the State of Georgia Supreme Court Bar; the State of Georgia Court of Appeals Bar; and he is admitted to the United States District Court Bar for the Northern District of Georgia. He is a member of the Cobb County Bar Association and the Georgia Chapter of Defense of Drinking Drivers. Mr. Kilgo earned his B.A. degree from Auburn University and his J.D. degree from Georgia State University College of Law. Matt is the author of “Georgia Gun Law – Armed and Educated”, a book on state and federal gun rights, use of force, and self-defense. He has trained the public in more than 500 Second Amendment/ Use of Force seminars in the past 15 years and works every day to protect the rights of his clients in criminal cases, self-defense matters, Weapons Carry License applications and denial hearings, and in advancing gun- rights issues in Georgia. Matt is an NRA Committee Member and a Founding Member of the American Counsel of Second Amendment Lawyers, for whom he served as 2023 President.
